I can't go a single December without reading some holiday Jan Brett books to the kids! Actually, that leads to January and all of her fun winter themed books!!! I'm OBSESSED!

I know I am not the only one!!! Admit it...you can't NOT READ Jan Brett to your kindergarten class! The only issue is trying to pick a favorite...I can't even go there! Oh, well...if I have to choose, it would be The Wild Christmas Reindeer!

This year I added a lot of book companions to my store and some freebies too....go check it out! There is a FREEBIE for The Mitten and a fun little unit called FUN WITH TROLLS AND HEDGEHOGS (also free!).

It's a reading activity that teaches kids about hedgehogs and the folklore around trolls. Jan Brett has a lot of both of these in her books. Did you know she has a pet hedgehog??

NORWEGIAN ANYONE?????

I am from North Dakota originally. Most people are Scandinavian or German. I am the Scandinavian variety! Norwegian to be more specific. Jan Brett traveled to Norway and the pictures in her books Who's That Knocking on Christmas Eve and The Wild Christmas Reindeer were both inspired by her travels to Norway.

DON'T YOU JUST LOVE HOW CAPTIVATED CHILDREN ARE BY HER ILLUSTRATIONS?

It doesn't matter what age you are, everyone loves her illustrations.
